The Vision and Understanding the Need: Marriage Empowerment
Marriage is the foundation for the family and families are the backbone to every community. Regardless of your race, gender, religious beliefs, or financial status being a part of a family with a strong healthy marriage makes a world of a difference. There are numerous benefits for children raised in a home with married parents. Strong healthy marriages help to reduce poverty, crime, and failing grades in school while improving physical and mental health.
Martez Layton, the visionary for the Married 4 Life Walk, found himself in a situation where he and his wife Woodrina were fighting for their marriage and family. Martez being a man full of faith, heard the spirit of the Lord speak to his heart by instructing him, “to hold Woodrina’s hand each day and simply walk and talk with her.” Those simply walks strengthened their marriage and enabled them to overcome infidelity in their marriage. Martez and Woodrina both witnessed the empowering results of the special bond created while simply taking the time to walk and talk hand in hand.
Healing Hearts Healing Homes, Inc. created the Marriage Walk to bring awareness to the importance of simply holding hands and walking together. The goal is to remind couples to slow down, walk together, and remember there is nothing that you will face in life that you cannot conquer or overcome together as one. The Married 4 Life Walk is to remind everyone that as a community and a country, if we can walk, talk, and pray together there is nothing that can divide us.
The Married 4 Life Walk primarily focuses on marriages between a man and a woman but wants to bring all nationalities and those of different religious faith in the community together. The distance for the walk is 1 mile, so that those of all ages can participate. Completing the mile represents finishing strong as a unit.
Marriages in America are failing in drastic numbers. However, Healing Hearts Healing Homes, Inc. desires to come together with one purpose. One cause could be the match that lights the fire of staying in the fight for your marriage. We want couples to leave the walk more committed to, “Not Letting The Hand Go That You Hold.” We are asking that you collaborate and support us as we are committed to strengthening marriages and families.
